Description: Chief Investigator Hammond was shot and killed while responding to a disturbance call of a man with a firearm. Investigator Hammond responded to the scene after another deputy had been severely wounded. Investigator Hammond was fatally shot by the suspect as he took up a defensive position near the suspect's residence. The suspect was killed shortly after Investigator Hammond's death. The other deputy wounded in this incident survived his injuries.
