Description: Officers Hudec and Stainbrook were returning to the District when their police ambulance vehicle was struck by a train. The crossing at East 91st street had many surrounding buildings, making it hard to see oncoming trains. The train struck the vehicle on the left side and the two officers were thrown out. Both were pronounced dead on arrival when taken to the hospital. The train driver was not detained.
