Description: Officer Hunter and Officer Kelvin Merritt were attempting to arrest two suspects at the Congress Club when they were shot. Officer Hunter was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound to the chest. Officer Merritt, who was also taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach, survived. Officer Hunter's assailant was found guilty of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. The second suspect was convicted of aggravated assault.
