Description: On December 27, 1985, Traffic Officer Irwin completed his shift and was en route to headquarters for a debriefing. While riding his department motorcycle, Officer Irwin abruptly braked to avoid a collision. His motorcycle slid into the intersection and was struck by a vehicle. Officer Irwin sustained multiple injuries which rendered him a paraplegic. Officer Irwin died of blood poisoning nearly 15 years later, on September 18, 2000.
