Description: Chief Johnson responded to arrest an intoxicated suspect. Once inside the patrol vehicle the suspect began to resist arrest. A citizen passing by stopped to help when he saw the suspect and Chief Johnson battling vigorously. The suspect attempted to choke Chief Johnson, but the citizen put the suspect in a neck hold on the suspect. The suspect continued to fight while being transported to the jail. Once they arrived at the jail, it took four police officer to remove the suspect and place him into custody. Chief Johnson began to feel ill after the arrest. He was in distress and a doctor was called. Chief Johnson died two hours later after the arrest.
