Description: Deputy Marshal Jenkins was shot and killed near New Madrid, Missouri by the father of a man who had been confronted by Marshal Jenkins. The suspect shot Marshal Jenkins with a shotgun as he stood in the doorway of his house. Marshal Jenkins was mortally wounded but still pursued the suspect a short distance before he collapsed. The suspect was subsequently arrested for the murder.
