Description: Police Officer Jacobs was shot while conducting a field interview. Officer Jacobs and his partner were working a detail to identify and engage gang members in the neighborhood. Officer Jacobs stopped a suspect under suspicion of attempting to purchase a gun. The suspect fled on foot and the officers gave chase. The suspect then opened fire and shot Officer Jacobs several times. Officer Jacobs was transported to the hospital where he died. The suspect committed suicide.
