Description: City Marshal Jett was shot in retaliation by relatives of a man whom he had killed while performing his official duty. A few months earlier, Marshal Jett had a suspect in his custody and another man attempted to free him. Marshal Jett fatally shot the man. Marshal Jett was ambushed and shot in the abdomen while on patrol and died of his injuries a few hours later. His assailant was tried in court but was fatally shot while out on bond before the case was settled.
