Description: On March 18, 1984, Detective Joyner was found face down in a North Carolina swamp with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Detective Joyner was conducting an investigation regarding a gun smuggling operation. Initially, his death was not classified as line of duty. The case was reopened after new evidence came to light. After a detailed investigation, Detective Joyner's death was ruled as a homicide.
