Description: Patrolman Jupin was shot and seriously injured on May 10, 1999, while backing up another officer investigating a suspicious man dressed in camouflage clothing. During questioning, the suspect fled. While pursuing the suspect on foot, the suspect shot Patrolman Jupin three times in the face, hand, and leg. He was transported to a local hospital where he slipped into a coma. He remained in the coma 3 years before succumbing to his injuries.
