Description: Detective Jackson was shot and killed while trying to arrest three members of the Howard Street Gang who had been traced to Santa Rosa after brutally attacking some girls in San Francisco. Officer Lester Dorman of the San Francisco Police Department and Sheriff John Petray from Sonoma County were also killed in this incident. The gang members were lynched by an angry mob.
