Description: Chief of Police Jones was shot as he and a fellow officer searched the woods for a suspect who had just murdered his wife. Chief Jones was ambushed and shot multiple times. Chief Jones was transported to the hospital and died of his injuries the next day. The suspect was arrested and convicted of murder. The convicted man was scheduled to die by electrocution but succumbed to illness before the sentence could be carried out.
