Description: Corrections Officer Jackson was stabbed to death during prison melee. A few dozen prisoners at the Moberly Training Center for Men were celebrating the Independence Day holiday with a cookout and contraband alcohol. When officers attempted to remove a prisoner who had become belligerent, the prisoners protested and attacked the unarmed officers. Officer Jackson was held by one inmate, Roy Roberts, while two others stabbed him. Officer Jackson was just a few weeks away from retiring. Roberts was sentenced to death and the other two inmates were sentenced to life in prison.
