Description: Ambush. He and Officer Joseph PiagentiniI were shot for no apparent reason while sitting in their patrol car. An alleged member of the Black Liberation Army, was convicted of the killing. On August 28, 1971, two BLA members attempt to machine gun a San Francisco police department patrol car. After an exchange of gun fire, they were apprehended. Officer Jones' weapon was found in their possession.
