Description: Deputy Sheriff Johnson was shot and killed as he attempted to arrest a gang of liquor smugglers along the banks of the Rio Grande. Four suspects engaged in a gun battle with Deputy Johnson and fellow deputies. Deputy Johnson was killed in the exchange of gunfire, and four suspects were arrested for his murder.
