Description: Private Kackley was fatally shot when he went to investigate a shooting near the Big Splint coal yard. Private Kackley and a guardsman came under shot sniper fire when they arrived at the coal mine. The striking coal miners had set up a squatter's camp in the area and were protesting against the squalid work conditions.
