Description: Attempting other arrest (excludes burglary, robbery and drug-related arrests). Chief Knowles and Officer Janvrin were attempting to arrest suspect for drunk driving. Chief Knowles attempted to place suspect in the cruiser. The suspect resisted arrest and a fight broke out. A female passenger in the car also joined in and hit and kicked Chief Knowles. She was later charged with assault and battery. Chief Knowles collapsed during the struggle. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
