Description: Captain Knapps was killed after being bludgeoned with a hammer during a prison uprising. Captain Knapps and two other officers had been taken hostage by a group of prisoners. The prisoners demanded that Captain Knapps turn over his jail keys to them. When he refused, the inmates beat him with a hammer.
