Description: Watchmen Kreigh and Daniel Brassell boarded a freight train to investigate reports that hobos were present. When the lawmen confronted the hobos and attempted to arrest them, one of the suspects fired his revolver, striking Watchman Kreigh in the chest. Watchman Kreigh died at the scene. Watchman Brassell was also shot but recovered. The shooting took place near Archer Avenue in Chicago. The suspects were not caught.
