Description: Sheriff Kellum had arrested a man he found to be carrying five gallons of illegal whiskey in his car. While transporting the bootlegger to jail, the man pulled a concealed handgun and shot Deputy Kellum four times in the head. His killer escaped, but was soon captured. He was convicted of the crime and sentenced to life in prison.
