Description: Deputy U.S. Marshal Kavanaugh contracted cholera in Shanghai, China while in service of the U.S. court. Marshal Kavanaugh was transporting prisoners from Shanghai to Bilbid prison in Manila by steamer when he became ill. Marshal Kavanaugh was hospitalized and died on October 21, 1918.
