Description: Officer Kearney was assigned to protect a wagon driver from being interfered with by union members on strike. The horse pulling the wagon was startled when an automobile passed by. The horse bolted, throwing the officer off the wagon and to the ground. Officer Kearney suffered a fractured skull and damage to his spine. He died of his injuries the following day.
