Description: Court Officer Kienzle was shot and killed by an inmate inside the Berrien County Courthouse. The inmate was being escorted from the courtroom to his holding cell by a sheriff's deputy when he began to fight with the deputy. The inmate was able to disarm the deputy and opened fire upon the deputy. Court Officer Kienzle and Security Supervisor Joe Zangaro rushed to assist the deputy and when each of them comforted the inmate separately, they were shot and killed by the inmate.
