Description: Officer King and Officer Richard Smith were shot and killed while attempting to take a man into custody for a mental health evaluation. Unaware that the suspect had shot and killed two citizens at a local business earlier that day, Officer King and Officer Smith arrived at the residence and were ambushed as soon as the exited their patrol vehicle. Officer King and Officer Smith were transported to a local hospital where they both were pronounced dead.
