Description: Acting Chief of Police Knotts was ambushed and shot due to his enforcement of the city ordinance against slot machines. Chief Knotts made clear his intention to stop gambling in Logan. Chief Knotts died of his injuries the next day. His assailant, who owned several slot machines, was convicted of murder and sentenced to 18 years in prison.
