Description: Deputy Keeney was shot by a suspect who had escaped custody a few days prior in Miami, Kansas. Deputy Keeney was at his blacksmith shop when he was ambushed and shot several times from behind by a suspect whom he had arrested on charges of making death threats against another man. The suspect fled, was captured and escaped. The suspect was located two years later in Illinois where he was shot and killed by a posse.
