Description: Deputies Knight, Samuel Meredith and Charles Meredith went to serve a warrant to two men wanted for carrying concealed weapons. The first suspect was arrested without incident. The second suspect fired at the deputies with his Winchester as they approached his shop. Deputy Knight and Deputy Samuel Meredith were both shot in the head. Deputy Charles Meredith was also fatally shot. The suspect escaped and was not caught.
