Description: Detective Kugler was called to assist the Broward County Auto Theft Task Force identify two large pieces of heavy equipment that were suspected of being altered or stolen. Detective Kugler spent almost two hours in a cramped, poorly ventilated space using paint thinners to uncover the identification numbers on a large crane and front-end loader. After completing this task, Detective Kugler was driving to another assignment when he suffered a fatal heart attack about 30 minutes later.
