Description: Officer Kurth was killed in an automobile accident while in pursuit of a suspect driving a stolen car. Officer Kurth pursued the suspect with speeds exceeding 100 mph. While attempting to negotiate a curve, Officer Kurth hit a stretch of dirt road under construction and skidded broadside into the path of a tour bus. Officer Kurth was transported to a local hospital with severe head injuries. He died the next day while undergoing brain surgery.
