Description: On July 6, 1987, Police Officers Koga and a second officer were injured in a vehicle crash when their patrol cars collided as they responded to assist a fellow officer. Officer Koga sustained critical cranial injuries, broken bones and internal damage. Officer Koga was in a coma for several months. Officer Koga never able to return to duty and was dependent on others for his basic needs. Officer Koga died of severe athrosclerotic heart disease on March 8, 2011.
