Description: Officer Louviere was shot and killed when he stopped to assist at what he thought was a major traffic crash after his shift ended. Officer Louviere was still in uniform and driving a fully marked Westwego Police vehicle when he attempted to assist the crash victims. Officer Louviere was ambushed and shot by a male suspect as he approached one of the crashed vehicles. The suspect was involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend who was an occupant of one of the crashed vehicles. The suspect fatally shot his ex-girlfriend after the crash and before Officer Louviere arrived on the scene. The suspect then fled and committed suicide following a standoff with police.
