Description: Correction Officer Lanphear died of a heart attack as he and fellow officers searched the New Jersey State Prison for several inmates who were attempting to escape. Officer Lanphear had just begun his shift when the alarm sounded and he was immediately issued a 37mm gas gun. One of the inmates was spotted on the roof of the Death House. As Officer Lanphear ran towards the Death House to apprehend the inmate, he collapsed and died.
