Description: Special Deputy Lyman was one of many officers commissioned and sworn by the Sheriff to patrol a labor strike in the Market district. The strike grew increasingly violent and a massive riot erupted. Deputy Lyman was clubbed on the head by several rioters who were wielding bats and sticks and suffered a fractured skull. Deputy Lyman was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
