Description: Deputy Lanham suffered a heart attack when he and Deputy Wilfred Schroeder pursued and arrested a speeding motorist. The motorist had already eluded two patrolmen who then requested backup from the deputies. Deputy Lanham, who was driving, pursued the suspect who was speeding in excess of 80 mph. Deputy Schroeder fired several shots over the roof of the vehicle which convinced the 17-year-old motorist to stop. Deputy Lanham collapsed after the suspect was placed under arrest. Deputy Lanham was transported to the hospital where he died.
