Description: On January 17, 2012, Deputy Sheriff Lawrence died as a result of a gunshot wound sustained thirty years earlier on June 26, 1982. Deputy Lawrence was questioning a suspect about a car crash when the suspect suddenly produced a gun and shot Deputy Lawrence in the head. Deputy Lawrence underwent brain surgery and was forced to medically retire from the department. The suspect was shot and killed by an individual who witnessed the shooting.
