Description: Detective Sergeant Lema was struck and killed at the Naval Station Newport in Rhode Island. Detective Lema was talking to an officer in the parking lot of police headquarters when a government employee targeted the two officers for unknown reasons and struck Detective Lema with his department vehicle. The suspect attempted to flee and crashed into a utility pole. Detective Lema was transported to a hospital where he died. The suspect was apprehended.
