Description: Inspector Liedloff and Inspector Clinton Gross were in a rowboat on the Snohomish River as they searched for illegal salmon gillnets. The grappling line became snagged on the river bottom and the boat capsized as they attempted to free the line. Inspector Gross was able to swim to shore. Inspector Liedloff, who was wearing hip boots and a sheepskin jacket, drowned. Inspector Liedloff's body was recovered later that morning.
