Description: Officer Loper was on routine foot patrol when a car drove up and called to him. As Officer Loper approached the car, he was shot at close range. The suspects were known bank robbers and possible suspects in the kidnapping of two local citizens. Policeman Loper's body was recovered hours later. A week later, the same three suspects robbed a bank and killed Grady County Deputy Sheriff James E. Wilson.
