Description: Deputy Lawrence, Texas Ranger Quirl Carnes and two other lawmen were led by an informer into an ambush. The lawmen believed they were about to capture a gang of smugglers wanted for murder. The smugglers opened fire on the lawmen as soon as they came within range. Deputy Lawrence and Ranger Carnes were killed. The leader of the gang was also killed.
