Description: Deputy Lippincott, of the Trenton State Prison, was shot by an escaping prisoner. The prisoner got the gun from another correctional officer he had attacked. The inmate fired, striking Deputy Lippincott in the leg and back. Deputy Lippincott returned fire but was only able to graze the inmate. The inmate was quickly overpowered by the other guards. The inmate was convicted of the murder and executed.
