Description: Officer Lawson was on patrol when he was ambushed, shot and killed by a former police officer. After the city election was held, the former officer resigned from his position in the department. Officer Lawson was appointed to the vacated position on June 2, 1919. The former officer was found guilty of murder and received a life sentence.
