Description: Corporal Lally, Sergeant Gabriel Porteous and Jailer Andrew Van Kuren were killed during an exchange of gunfire with a desperado. The suspect died under a hail of gunfire. The day before, the same suspect had killed Captain John Day and Patrolman Peter Lamb in a shootout before escaping. Officer August Morocca, Officer F. Evan & Officer J. Bofill were also wounded but survived.
