Description: Sheriff Love and Officer Charles Dewing were transporting three prisoners from Shreveport, Louisiana to Limestone County when the prisoners overpowered them and seized their weapons. Sheriff Love was shot in the back and died at the scene. Officer Dewing was wounded in the leg but survived. The suspects escaped in the swamps but were captured and shot to death when they resisted arrest.
