Description: On July 30, 1991, Police Officer Long sustained injuries in a single-vehicle crash while in pursuit of a suspect fleeing from police. Officer Long and his partner were in pursuit of the suspect when they lost control of their patrol vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. Officer Long was the passenger in the vehicle. Both officers were transported to the hospital and treated. The suspect was apprehended. Officer Long was paralyzed from the neck down as a result of the crash and died from these injuries on August 15, 2013.
