Description: Sergeant LeClaire was shot and killed as he and two other court officers attempted to serve a warrant on a suspect wanted for failing to appear in court. The officers were allowed into the apartment but were met with gunfire as the suspect stepped from a back bedroom. Sergeant LeClaire was shot in the head and the abdomen. The other two officers, who were not mortally wounded, shot the suspect. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
