Description: Deputy Sheriff Lanier was attacked and shot in retaliation by two suspects whose moonshine still had been raided. The suspects blamed Deputy Lanier for the raid and made threats against him. Deputy Lanier was shot in the head and died of his injuries the next day. Two suspects were arrested and charged with murder.
