Description: City Marshal Lawrence was shot after placing a suspect under arrest for gambling and disorderly conduct. As Marshal Lawrence escorted the suspect to jail, the suspect pulled a gun and fatally shot Marshal Lawrence. Sheriff C.B. Hall was also shot while attempting to apprehend the suspect but survived his injuries. The suspect was not apprehended.
