Description: Sergeant Laza-Caraballo was shot and killed as he intervened in a shooting incident while off duty and on sick leave. Sergeant Laza-Caraballo was patronizing a barber shop when several men attacked the shop owner and attempted to shoot the owner of the shop with a rifle. Sergeant Laza-Caraballo identified himself as a police officer and shot and killed one of the suspects. Another suspect opened fire and fatally shot Sergeant Laza-Carallo several times.
