Description: Officer Lewis was returning to City Hall from patrol duty when he swerved to avoid striking jaywalking pedestrians and collided with a streetcar at Fifth and Houston Streets. Officer Lewis was rushed to the hospital with multiple injuries, including a crushed chest. Officer Lewis died several hours later.
