Description: On June 1, 2001, Police Officer Lewis was injured in a single-vehicle crash when his patrol car left the roadway and struck a tree while responding to a backup call involving another officer involved in a foot pursuit. He suffered a traumatic brain injury resulting from the crash and never recovered leaving him unable to walk or speak. He succumbed to complications stemming from the original crash on November 8, 2016.
